Dynamic bundles

Let customers build their own box from products and collections you choose, with the discount applied in the cart.

A dynamic bundle lets customers build their own box. You choose the products and collections they pick from and how many items they pick. Subrise creates a Shopify page for the bundle, and the discount applies in the cart.

Dynamic bundles are on the Enterprise plan. On other plans, Dynamic bundle shows an Upgrade badge and Dynamic bundles aren't on your plan. See Choose a Subrise plan.

Create a dynamic bundle

  1. Go to Bundles and click Create bundle.
  2. Choose Dynamic bundle.
  3. Under Details, enter a Bundle name and check the Page URL handle. The bundle's page will be at /pages/ and this handle.
  4. Under Structure, choose how customers build the bundle:
    • Single selection: one pool of products to pick from. For example, pick any 6 wines.
    • Multi-step selection: steps with different products in each. For example, pick 2 proteins, then 3 sides.
  5. Set how many items customers pick. See Quantities.
  6. Add the products and collections customers pick from. See Products and steps.
  7. Under Discount and shipping, set the discount and shipping. See Discount and shipping.
  8. Click Save in the save bar.

Check Remember these settings for future bundles to start your next dynamic bundle with the same structure and quantity type.

Quantities

For Single selection, choose under Quantity:

  • An exact number: customers pick exactly the Number of items.
  • A range: customers pick between Minimum items and Maximum items.
  • A choice of sizes: customers choose a size, such as 3 or 6 items. Click Add size for each size.

For Multi-step selection, each step has its own Minimum items and Maximum items. A minimum of 0 means no minimum, and a maximum of 0 means no limit.

Products and steps

Each step has collections and products to pick from:

  • Click Add collections to offer every product in a collection.
  • Click Add products to offer specific products.

With Multi-step selection, click Add step to add another step, and give each a Step name, such as "Choose your proteins". Customers go through the steps in order.

A bundle needs at least one product or collection before it saves.

Discount and shipping

  • Discount: No discount or Percentage off. Dynamic bundles don't use fixed amounts.
  • Free shipping on this bundle: orders with the bundle ship free, and so do its subscription renewals.

See Bundle discounts and free shipping for how these apply at checkout and how they combine with your other discounts.

Volume discounts

Once the bundle is saved, a Volume discounts section lets you give better deals on bigger boxes. Click Add tier and enter a Quantity and a Discount percentage.

When a customer reaches a tier's quantity, they get the higher of the tier's discount and the bundle discount. The two don't add up. Below the first tier, the bundle discount still applies. A tier at or below the bundle discount changes nothing, so set each tier above it.

With volume discounts and free shipping, free shipping starts at the lowest tier's quantity if the bundle has no percentage discount of its own. With a percentage discount, it starts at the bundle's own minimum number of items.

Volume discounts apply to one-time purchases only. Subscribers get the subscription discount on every order. See Bundle subscriptions.

Put the bundle live

A saved dynamic bundle opens with a checklist, Finish setting up your bundle. It has two tasks:

  1. Publish your bundle: click Publish to make the bundle's page visible.
  2. Add the bundle block to the page template: click Set up to open the theme editor, add the Full Page Bundle block to the page's template, and save.

Subrise checks both for real, so the tasks tick themselves. When both are done, the checklist reads Your bundle is live, and you can click View live page.

The block goes on the page template, not on one page. Every bundle page that uses that template then shows its own bundle. See Show bundles on your storefront.

In the bundle list, the Storefront column shows Setup needed or Block added.

Edit a dynamic bundle

Open the bundle from Bundles, change it, and click Save. To hide the bundle's page, click Unpublish.
