Shopify Sidekick
Ask Shopify Sidekick about your subscriptions and let it draft plan, portal and subscription changes that you review and save.
Subrise works with Shopify Sidekick, the assistant in your Shopify admin. Ask about your subscriptions in your own words and Sidekick answers from your Subrise data. Ask for a change and Sidekick drafts it in Subrise for you to review.
There is nothing to set up. The Subrise tools come with the app.
Start a conversation
- Click Sidekick at the top of your Shopify admin.
- Ask a question or describe a change, such as "Which subscription payments failed this week?"
- The first time Sidekick uses Subrise in a conversation, it asks for your permission. Allow it.
Settings > Sidekick in Subrise lists example prompts. Click Copy prompt on one, paste it into Sidekick and fill in the words in brackets.
Every change waits for you
Sidekick never changes a subscription, plan or setting on its own.
- You ask for a change.
- Sidekick gives you a link.
- The link opens the right page in Subrise with the change filled in and a note saying Sidekick drafted it.
- Nothing changes until you click save or confirm on that page.
If the subscription changed after Sidekick drafted something for it, Subrise stops and asks you to check the latest details first. Changes you confirm show Via Sidekick in the subscription's activity, so your team can see where they came from.

What Sidekick can draft
- A plan: a new plan, or new frequencies, products and a discount on an existing one. Opens the plan editor.
- Customer portal options: what customers can do themselves, such as skip, pause, swap or add products, pause lengths and the days they can move orders to. Opens Settings > Customer portal.
- One change to one subscription: pause, resume, skip the next order, reschedule it, cancel, add a product or a one-time add-on, swap a variant, change a quantity, remove a product, apply a discount, change the frequency, retry a failed payment or send a payment update link. Opens the subscription.
Edit a customer email
Sidekick can also edit an open Subrise email. Open the email in Settings > Notifications, then ask Sidekick to change it, for example "Make the upcoming order email warmer and mention skipping." Sidekick fills in the subject and text. Read it over and click Save.
