Billing settings

Choose the days and time Subrise charges renewals, how failed payments are retried, and whether to hold inventory for add-ons.

Settings > Billing controls when renewals are charged and what happens when a charge fails. For how billing works end to end, see Billing and failed payments.

Renewal schedule

SettingWhat it does
Charge renewalsOn days of the week or On days of the month.
Billing daysThe days renewals run. Tick weekdays, or days 1 to 31 of the month (with Select all). Choose at least one. In a month without the 29th, 30th or 31st, that day runs on the last day of the month.
Billing timeThe time renewals run on every billing day, in half-hour steps.
Allow billing without inventoryCharge renewals even when a product is out of stock, overriding the product's inventory settings in Shopify.

On each billing day, Subrise charges every subscription whose next billing date is that day or earlier. A subscription due on a day you don't bill is charged at your next billing day, and its later dates keep their original rhythm.

Until you save a schedule, renewals run every day at 9:00 AM UTC, and the page shows a notice saying so.

Tip

Billing on fewer days groups renewals together, which can make packing and shipping easier. Customers are still charged on or after their billing date, never before.

To stop all renewals for a while, use the Subscription billing switch in General settings.

Each retry runs at your next billing time on or after its retry date. After the last retry fails, Subrise cancels or pauses the subscription as you chose.

Click Save in the save bar to keep your changes. See Failed payments for what customers see.

Add-on inventory holds

Add-ons are often added days before the next charge. A hold keeps them from selling out in between.

Turn on Hold inventory for add-ons to reserve an add-on's stock as soon as it's added to a subscription. Subrise creates a $0 hold order in Shopify to reserve the stock, and releases it on the next successful charge. If an add-on is out of stock when it's added, Subrise refuses it.

The switch saves as soon as you change it. Holds are off by default.

Add-on inventory holds are available on higher plans. If your plan doesn't include them, the section shows an upgrade button. See Your Subrise plan.

Note

Hold orders appear in your Shopify orders list. Don't fulfill them: they only reserve stock and are cancelled when the hold is released.
