Tags

The customer and order tags Subrise adds in Shopify, when each one is applied, and how to rename them.

Subrise adds tags to customers and orders in Shopify as subscriptions start, renew, pause and cancel. Use them to filter customers and orders, build customer segments, or trigger Shopify Flow workflows.

Customer tags

SettingDefault tagAdded when
First time subscriberFirst Time SubscriberA customer starts their first subscription. It's removed at that subscription's first successful renewal, or when they start another subscription or resume one.
Active subscriberActive SubscriberA customer has an active subscription.
Paused subscriberPaused SubscriberA customer pauses and has no active subscriptions left.
Inactive subscriberInactive SubscriberA customer cancels and has no active subscriptions left.
Failed billingFailed BillingA renewal charge fails. It's removed when a charge succeeds.

A customer has one of the active, paused and inactive tags at a time: Subrise removes the others when it adds one.

Order tags

SettingDefault tagAdded to
All subscription ordersSubrise SubscriptionEvery subscription order except prepaid ones, which get the Prepaid orders tag instead.
New subscription orderNew SubscriptionThe first order of a customer's first subscription.
Repeat subscription orderRepeat SubscriptionEvery renewal order, and the first order of any later subscription a returning customer starts.
Prepaid ordersSubrise PrepaidOrders that contain a prepaid subscription.

Rename a tag

  1. Go to Settings > General.
  2. Under Tags, change the text in the tag's field. To add several tags for one event, separate them with commas, for example "Subscriber, VIP".
  3. Click Save in the save bar.

Subrise uses the new tag from then on. The next time it updates a customer, it also removes the tag's old name.

Custom tags

For tags based on what a customer bought, or any other rule, use Shopify Flow with Subrise's triggers. See Shopify Flow.
