Customer experience

How your customers manage their own subscriptions, and where to choose between the storefront portal and Shopify customer accounts.

Your customers can manage their subscriptions themselves: skip or reschedule an order, pause, change products, update their address and more. This saves you support work, and you choose exactly what they're allowed to change.

Two places customers manage subscriptions

Subrise offers two customer-facing experiences. You pick one, and every link Subrise sends (in emails and from the admin) goes there.

Choose where customers go

  1. In Subrise, go to Settings > Customer portal.
  2. Under Portal location, in Customers manage subscriptions in, choose Shopify customer accounts or A page on your storefront.
  3. If you chose a storefront page, pick the Page that holds the portal block.
  4. Click Save.

The line Customers go to under the setting shows the exact link customers receive. Links keep going to the old place until you save.

Until you save a portal location, Subrise picks one for you. If your store uses Shopify's new customer accounts, links go to Shopify customer accounts. If it uses classic customer accounts, links go to your store's account page (/account), not a portal page, until you choose one.

Note

Shopify customer accounts is greyed out if your store still uses classic (legacy) customer accounts. Use the storefront portal, or upgrade your store's customer accounts in Shopify first.

What you control

The same settings apply to both experiences:

  • Customer portal settings: what customers can change, how they can pause, the reasons they choose from, and the products they can add.
  • Portal text: every label and message the storefront portal shows, for example to translate it.
  • Email notifications: the emails customers get when their subscription changes.
