Mailchimp
Add Subrise subscription events to your Mailchimp contacts' activity, to trigger customer journeys.
Subrise adds subscription events to the contacts in one Mailchimp audience. Use them as starting points for customer journeys, such as a welcome after a first subscription.
What you need from Mailchimp
- An API key. In Mailchimp, open your profile, go to Extras > API keys and create a key.
- Your audience ID, also called the list ID. Open Audience, choose the audience your customers are in, then Settings > Audience name and defaults.
Connect Mailchimp
- In Subrise, go to Settings > Integrations.
- On the Mailchimp card, click Connect.
- Paste the key into API key and the audience ID into List ID.
- Click Connect. The card shows Connected.
How events reach Mailchimp
Subrise finds the contact in the audience by the customer's email and adds an event to their activity. The event is named after the Subrise event, such as subrise_new_subscription.
Warning
Subrise doesn't add new contacts to your audience. If a customer is not in the audience yet, their events are dropped. Sync your Shopify customers to the same audience, for example with Mailchimp's Shopify app.
To start a journey from an event, pick the event starting point in Mailchimp's journey builder and enter the event name exactly as listed below.
Events Subrise sends
| Event name | Sent when |
|---|---|
subrise_new_subscription | A subscription is created: at checkout, in the admin or by a migration. |
subrise_new_subscriber | A customer's first ever subscription places its first order. |
subrise_prepaid_subscription | An order for a prepaid subscription is placed, at checkout or on renewal. |
subrise_addon_purchase | An order includes one-time add-ons, or an add-on is added to a subscription. |
subrise_upcoming_invoice | Before each order, on the schedule of your upcoming order email. |
subrise_successful_payment | A renewal is charged. |
subrise_failed_transaction | A renewal charge fails. |
subrise_subscription_modified | A subscription changes. |
subrise_pause_subscription | A subscription is paused. |
subrise_reactivate_sub | A subscription is resumed. |
subrise_subscription_cancelled | A subscription is cancelled. |
subrise_prepaid_sub | A customer buys a gift from a Multi-order option. |
Gift purchases arrive as subrise_prepaid_sub, not subrise_prepaid_subscription. To reach gift buyers, start a journey on subrise_prepaid_sub too.
